Pros

I've worked on many projects with Two Cats over the course of at least 10 years - on everything from serious PBS documentaries to fun, quirky renovation shows for HGTV. It's a small group of passionate, super-fun, creative people who will do everything it takes to make a great film or show. What I like best about the place is that the CEO is very hands-on and wants everyone to be a part of the entire process. I learned to write treatments, got to do some basic shooting and rough editing too. It's definitely a great way to learn production as opposed to some of the bigger companies I've freelanced for where you're confined to one simple task.

Cons

I worked some crazy hours; but that's just the nature of production. And when the cat would sit on my lap I'd spend the rest of the day sneezing my head off. And at one point I was hoping to get a full time gig, but nothing was available; it's a small shop and you have to know going in that it's project by project.

Pros

Hires employees with little experience and gives them responsibilities - but pay is extremely low for industry standard. Owner/boss would sometimes buy dinner for employees - but it was when insisting they stay at work past 8pm for non-urgent business. There are two cats in the office.

Cons

INAPPROPRIATE TREATMENT OF WOMEN: When owner/boss was looking to hire new employee, he called female employee over to his computer to show her the StaffMeUp profiles of candidates. He narrowed down candidates by their appearance only - saying he wanted to eliminate those who didn't look pretty or professional. He also went on LinkedIn and Facebook to find other pictures of candidates. Owner/boss also repeatedly called female employees "hot" to their faces. And said on conference call to agents (which employees were on the phone for) that he hired "hot girl" employees. Owner/boss asked to call female employee "Mommy". UNREASONABLE REQUESTS: Owner/boss said upon hiring that you were not to take off work for doctors appointments or out of town weddings. Would frequently email/text/call at 6am or 10pm with non-urgent work questions, would contact multiple times until you answered. Owner/boss demanded employee to clean the litter boxes each time the cats used them. FREQUENT FIRING OF EMPLOYEES: Several firings within just a few months. Fired employee with no notice or severance, because had to attend doctors appointments. Fired another employee with no notice or severance, via email, because he decided he didn't like them. Fired yet another employee with no notice or severance, via email with lawyer cced, because employee complained about workplace environment.
