A few things I want to acknowledge about this review:
1) You're right, I was a bit paranoid for a while. I'd like to first say that some of that was valid, as we had, to name only a few examples:
--Former employees accessing our EMR software, violating federal HIPAA laws, which in some cases requires self-reporting to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
--Therapists not keeping a medical record of their services, which is malpractice and could result in someone losing their license.
--Therapists making their colleagues and clients uncomfortable by forcing their personal opinions about their workplace onto people who wanted nothing to do with it.
That last one, licensed therapists bringing their clients into their personal drama, was next level alarming. So, yes, I was absolutely paranoid, and I do regret the impact that my acute paranoia might have had on the rest of the team.
The good news is that since those individuals left, the team at Upstate is aligned and authentic, as well as professionally excellent.
All that being said, we do want to reflect on our approach to leadership. We will do that and consider how we can do better in the future.
Thanks for all the feedback, and good luck on your future endeavors!
