Pros

-veterinary care is top notch -VCA promotes good animal care standards -Salaries are middle of the road -Good recognition of CVT's vs unlicensed techs

Cons

-Things changed when Mars joined the company -more money driven rather than patient care driven -bonuses for selling best care options went away-I was behind selling pet parents on best care options regardless but making the whole staff feel like they could make a difference in their own earnings was helpful, when that went away so did some of the motivation to push for best care. -did not have CE reimbursement for techs outside of their own CEs

Pros

Small animal, exotics, free care to wildlife, opportunities to work with zoo animals. Internal promotions to change all management has made the work environment very positive. Boarding facilities. Opportunity for certifying for internal crematory.

Cons

Pay rate less than expected for experience level. Corporate in California has increased prices every year that is causing all of my friends and family to change vets. With our rural area and low average income, pets are getting euthanized instead of having testing and treatment. Staff should have more discounts for employee pets.

Pros

Great quality of medicine. Great doctors. Team members that genuinely care about each other. Management is very fair about approving time off requests.

Cons

Pay could definitely be better. Inconsistent scheduling. If you don't speak up, you'll get the short end of the stick when scheduled and they will burn you out. Not enough organized training, especially for new employees, even though they have meetings all the time.
