Pros
I initially had my doubts taking a job at VGW, given the reviews I had read on Glassdoor, this is my review from my first 6 months: Job interview process was quick and painless. 3 interviews in total (one initial phone outreach + 2 team management interviews) Management in my area made sure I was sufficiently supported at the start of my employment and continues to provide training, guidance and advice in my field of work. Career progression within the company has been mapped out and funding for professional courses I wanted to undertake has been granted with little fuss. I have had no issues/personality clashes with anyone, everyone gets along well and there are many team bonding exercises (as well as company wide ones). In my short time with the company I have: played mini golf, darts, karaoke, lawn bowls and attended 5/6 dinners/lunches all paid for by the company. The CEO, Laurence Escalante, provides company updates every month to keep the staff abreast of what is happening and what the future plans are. He is open and approachable when in the office and makes an effort to get to know the staff. Company provides great working facilities. Free snacks, candies, coffee and cool drinks for staff daily. Every Thursday afternoon a different catered food is provided (platters, pizza, tacos etc) as well as free alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Cons
The work in my field is interesting although very archaic administration heavy (lots of data recording/work flow inefficiencies). The practices and procedures are lacking in some instances compared to more established organizations but efforts are being made to develop these and update technology, which management had been open and honest about during my interview process. I wouldn't consider these as a deal breaker if considering a job, just a minor inconvenience in an otherwise great working environment.
