Pros

1) They give the salary you want 2) You can move to very different project, if you want so: search engine, biggest mail service, social network, content projects , etc. 3) This is the biggest internet company in Europe, so if you want to do something big....

Cons

1) this is PM-led company, contrary to google, facebook and many others, who are led by engineers. So if you want to do *right things* - it's not a place for you. You will be busy making a tons of useless features, because your PM seen them somewhere and your project definitely needs them. How will this feature improve your service? "It's a business task, you don't understand it, please implement" 2) majority of managers are totally incompetent - they have no vision, no planning, no measuring. 3) they are promoting nerds to team leaders. Have you ever had nervous and somehow aggressive genius as a boss?

Pros

For a software engineer, data engineer, product manager, or similar tech role, VK appears to be viewed by many employees as a solid large-tech employer with good compensation and strong technical talent, but not necessarily the best choice if you're seeking rapid career progression or a highly entrepreneurial culture. The main complaints center on management structure and bureaucracy rather than pay or technical work.

Cons

Bureaucracy and slow decision-making — Employees often mention multiple approval layers and slower execution in larger departments. Inconsistent management quality — Experiences can vary significantly between teams; some managers are highly regarded, while others are criticized for communication or leadership. Limited career advancement in certain areas — Promotions and internal mobility may be less transparent than at some global tech firms.
