Had to quit after just a few months - Front Desk Receptionist VSA Resorts Employee Review

Pros

I enjoyed most of the people I worked with.

Cons

They often scheduled me for shifts just 8 hrs apart. My first shift off of training they had me as the only employee in the entire resort by myself. They had a physical schedule on a board in the office but would change the schedule without notifying me and then I would get a call asking why I wasn’t there for my shift (I had pictures of the schedule). I was scheduled to work on Sunday mornings at 7am after getting off work at 11pm the previous evening even though I was a breastfeeding mom with a 6 month old at home and lived 30 minutes away. (I ended up getting 7 hrs at home while also having to wake up throughout the night for feedings. Sunday mornings were not on my availability.

Pros

Very relaxed environment, there is a little bit of a make-your-own-way here that allows for creativity as well as trial and error when it comes to making marketing decisions. Also, the people are fantastic. You will work with some of the most kind and generous people in all of Virginia Beach.

Cons

Strange communication channels between departments. It often felt like there was a huge disconnect between the people who were customer facing (Hospitality side) to the sales department as well as marketing. While everyone was nice, it was hard to work with people who didn't seem to want to help your department succeed even though we were all the same company.
