Pros
The one I worked at had good rates all year round, was fairly clean, and most guests left pretty happy with what they'd taken from it. Upper management was also pretty relaxed and made the job a lot more enjoyable. If you like talking to people and/or you have a lot of homework, this is a pretty good gig.
Cons
The low rates mean that you have a large variety of clientele, many of whom you wouldn't expect to deal with at a hotel with rates even $10 higher. Housekeeping wasn't always doing the best job, so you have to deal with plenty of complaints and requests for more x y or z, but mostly it's not bad. The worst part is the PMS system they use...it looks really old and it's fairly clunky. There's a whole lot of shortcuts and workarounds coworkers have to teach each other in order to fully uitilize it. It could definitely use a revamping for the modern age.
