Pros

This was my first job back in 2006 so I'm sure it changed a lot since. but while working there here's the Pros: - Great Starting Job: Vans provided an excellent entry-level experience for someone new to the workforce. I gained valuable customer service skills and learned the basics of retail operations, which set a solid foundation for my career. - Fun Work Environment: The company culture was upbeat and casual, reflecting the brand’s cool and creative vibe. My coworkers were friendly, and it was easy to build camaraderie. -Employee Discount: Vans offered a generous employee discount, which was a big perk if you love the brand’s products. -Flexible Scheduling: The flexible hours made it easy to balance work with school or other commitments, which was a big plus as a younger employee. Might be obsolete now but that's how it was back then.

Cons

- Pay Could Be Higher: While the pay was fair for an entry-level position, it could feel a bit low considering the fast-paced retail environment during peak seasons. - Repetitive Tasks: Like most retail jobs, the work could become repetitive, especially during slower days. - Limited Growth Opportunities: Advancement opportunities were somewhat limited unless you were willing to stay long-term or transition to a full-time role. - Stressful During Peak Times: The holiday rush and back-to-school seasons could be stressful, with high customer traffic and demanding workloads.

Pros

The environment is absolutely amazing with my coworkers and they are always supportive. Any issues that arise are met with a high level of humanity - on the base level of the people I work with, because I haven't really delt with corporate. It genuinely feels nice to work here when you have a team like mine. The culture of skating is absolutely amazing to learn about at VANs and be a part of as well. I like the history behind some of the shoes, but that's probably just because I'm a history nerd.

Cons

Part time doesn't get many hours or enough pay to survive off of. However, you can't become full time unless you get a higher position. Sadly, they are incredibly hard to get, due to the fact people seem to stay with VANs if they get that promotion, just because it seems to be great to work here once you have that higher position. As well as the usual shift is 4 hours, and sometimes you only get one shift a week. It's just incredibly hard to stay here when it can't even give you enough money on your paychecks to get a small amount of groceries that'll last one person two weeks.
