Pros
Veritas is a good company with good people. Most work their tails off and truly care about the business. They are experts in the industry, among the best and brightest in the world. Veritas also has some of the best customers in the world.
Cons
The problem isn’t the employees, it’s executive management. It’s management by schizophrenia at Veritas rigth now. Every org, including Sales, CPO, Operations, Marketing, Engineering is in disarray. Most of these executives wouldn’t know how to run a lemonade stand let alone a multi-billion dollar company. As hard as it is to believe, I’m convinced they don’t understand software or hardware development processes, or resource constraints, or mythical man month concepts. They want everything and they want it now. Nice sentiment but there’s this little thing the rest of the world likes to call……………..reality! They can’t stick to a plan for more than a day or two. They’re always injecting some new product demand into the mix and then they wonder why it causes such delays with reduced features and poor quality. I honestly believe they don’t understand development processes, velocities or resource limitations.
