Pros

They are mostly willing to work to promote from within if possible.

Cons

If someone in middle management doesn't like you, they will find a way to squeeze you out. They typically won't fire unless they have an extremely good reason, they will instead offer a meaningless job that has nothing to do with what you used to do with very minimal pay to push you to quit.
