Pros
Paid well, nice small shop, Very strict, by the book maintenance. Redundancy checks for paperwork and maintenance completed. Great potential, with new leadership.
Cons
Uncertain future, little work scheduled for future, very last minute scheduling of work. DOM is very meticulous and very rough around the edges, can make for a very hostile environment for someone used to being a field mechanic. Small group of people that have been there forever run this place, they arent going anywhere, never will.
They brought a few people on for the "long term" after hiring them from a 90 day placement contract and then laid them off as soon as a large repair contract was complete, with no warning. no severance, just before 90 days, so no benefits paid.
LOTS of PAPER used here! Technology is lacking but it seems they were slowly working on fixing it, slowly.
Different managers have different ways of doing things and they conflict, on numerous occasions, with outbursts in front of employees. Entertaining to say the least.
As long as a mechanics hours are billable they have no problems running up the over-time...when its on them, they track it to the minute and expect the same time frame results. Very stressful in trying to figure out which standard your working for, the customers or Verticals, or the DOMs, or the Maintenance Manager, or the Floor Manager...and so on.
Very little advancement opportunities.
