Pros
I interviewed for a position that made me feel like I could go far in the company. They made you feel like you would be part of creating an amazing brand and becoming part of something to be proud of. But when the first day started....
Cons
I realized that the dreams and my position as explained to me when hired was nothing they said. This was a small company culture trying to grow a break neck speed and become a nation-wide force without learning how to do good business or create value, just attempt to buy it. There were only a few who ruled the company, CEO not included. They terrorized their fellow employees and because they could not strengthen their own corporate base because of the strangle hold of these employees, no one could be trained properly. These few employees watched and listened to whatever you did... The office layout was the most open concept I have ever seen and privacy was not allowed. But my position at the management level, required you the ability to have some privacy when speaking to your employees. Sometimes they need someone to speak to about personal issues that may be affecting their work. I was told I would be directing Regional Managers that directed Property Managers down to property level employees. I had no idea that none of my 11 properties would have regional managers (my portfolio should have had 3) and only half the properties had property managers. It was an impossible task. Where was the reprimand to the top employees who let the properties fall apart to these levels? Well they were either worried about setting you up to get fired or they were busy planning new properties to purchase without perfecting the existing ones. Bonuses - non existent and "discretionary" - as goes for PTO and 401k .. Discretionary 401k? That's a joke. And honestly, unethical
