Pros
Gives a chance back to go back to college life. Because it is a college town it is easier to find roommates. During school year you can always find someone to hang out. My PI was understanding and supported my work-life balance. They supported me throughout the pandemic by re-arranging my responsibilities and schedule.
Cons
Blacksburg is a small town that is pretty much empty during holidays so it can get a bit lonely. Apart from hiking trails, there is not much to do solo.
