Pros
Good collaboration among teams, excellent training, solid emphasis on what it means to be a good fundraiser and industry best practices
Cons
Command and control environment but it has a purpose behind it; they know what they're doing in the fundraising and alumni relations world. Salaries are low compared to other universities and new hires are brought in at higher rates than existing employees, VT does not match competing offers. It's kind of the only game in town for a fully-funded development shop and they know it so pay lags behind even local competitors.
