Pros
Vitran has some of the best employees working from them, but the good employees soon realized that the organization as a whole is not going anywhere and so they end of leaving. Many of the management people are very flexible on time off if the employee can justify it. The organization runs like a small company so it's very easy to work on many different types of projects. Which if you are some with great ambition and willingness to be a self starter there is an endless supply of projects here. Pressure at work can be low depending on the department that you work at.
Cons
The pay scale is not that great. The only way to get a raise at this place is to get a promotion. Once you are at the top of the promotions forget about getting any more raises other than cost of living adjustments. To many people get away with things that most employers would have long ago fired them for. This ends up frustrating the good people there and they end up looking for work elsewhere. Many times there seems like there is no direction in the company. Every department feels like they run as there own separate company. There is a vast lack of communication among departments and other services centers. No one ever wants to take blame for anything and there is a lot of finger point that goes around.
