Pros
The people are wonderful aside from CEO. Engineering & Production Manager are great and create buffer between employees and CEO
Cons
Poor Salary - Salary is much lower than standards in the region and industry across the company Ballooning Duties Additional/rotating duties are acceptable in a start up environment but at this company the CEO forces employees to assume responsibilities of complete roles outside of their discipline. This causes employees to be responsible for the workload of 3 to 4 roles and not being properly compensated for it. Poor Vacation policy/Vacation Clawback - CEO has sent out company-wide communications stating minimum 3 week vacation but actually only covers maximum of 2 weeks of vacation Poor Leadership & Direction - The CEO jumps from idea to idea without considering the industry and the associated strategy. This creates a reactive environment rather than a proactive one which leaves the teams constantly playing catch up and unable to do their best work. Lack of Business Acumen The CEO does not have good business sense nor does he understand the foundational principles for running a business. The CEO often puts business practices in place that do not make sense for the industry or business itself. The company often feels more like a hobby or experiment for the CEO rather than a professional business which further reduces job security for employees as there is no trust in the CEO's judgement Employees Viewed As Resources not People/Families The CEO is so focused on personal prestige and personal finances that there is often no thought/care about the employees personal and familial well-being. Employees are expected to consistently work late, come in last minute on weekends, and be deployed overseas with less than 48 hours notice. Layoffs have been postponed due to denial forcing families to go without work only weeks before holiday season when the situation could have been avoided. Speed over Ethical and Moral Obligations The CEO proliferates a culture of getting things done quickly over getting things done properly. This causes the quality of work to be poor but also causes unethical and immoral decisions to be made. This culture encourages loopholes and grey areas. Poor Product Quality Products are produced and sent into market without proper market intelligence, testing, and refinement. This causes customers to be unhappy and left feeling mislead and mistreated which causes undue tension between sales, production and engineering departments. Lack of Transparency CEO does not share finances, forecasts/projections etc. with his direct reportees(Management) let alone the rest of the company. Instead the CEO promotes false/inflated finances and forecasts with the intent to improve company morale. Because managers are not aware, they are not able to correct roadmaps and strategies. This causes a distrust of anything the CEO says and will eventually lead to the company's demise.
