Pros
You get an office to work from daily.
Cons
Absolutely everything else. The management team survives only due to the hemorrhaging of staff from the levels below and are generally inept at fee earning themselves. They are told to manage by fear and that "the most effective teams are managed by intimidation". Every move is monitored and analysed through extensive micromanagement and activity, positive or not, is used in reviews against the staff. Very few staff last beyond the 6 month probationary period mainly due to either poor treatment, loss of patience with being micromanaged in every aspect of their day, lack of motivation to fee earn due to the poor bonus structure, and (this is the only success of the management style), that there will always be a member of staff in each office ready to feed information, twisting the truth, to management in a vain attempt to stay in the positive light of the senior management to avoid the daily persecution received by their colleagues. There is constant goal post moving. Don't ever share a previously successful idea; it will be stolen, taken credit for by another higher up the food chain, then altered to become unsuccessful, and passed back to the originator to take the flack! Benefits are also sub-standard; the statutory minimal holiday entitlement has to be taken in a prescribed fashion, for top billings barely £250 a month commission will be added to an already below average salary. Own cars have to be used for business mileage for the statutory minimum mileage allowance. Own cars also have to be insured at own cost for business use (proof of insurance cover will be required). There is a lot of take and very little give and the only consistency here is the high staff turn over.
