Pros
The work itself is fine, I like my job. I enjoy having conversations with my patients and helping them with OTCs and vaccines. As for everything else its pretty standard for retail pharmacy.
Cons
I'm sure this is everywhere, but staffing has become a huge issue lately. I'm frequently at a busy store and there simply isn't enough technicians to run the pharmacy effectively. Even if they hired more, there "isn't enough hours in the budget". As the pharmacist, I 100% do not mind helping with filling or helping at the counter - but it shouldn't be effectively required because I only have one tech and a never-ending line at both the counter and drive-thru. Then there's the ever growing list of various targets they want us to meet. hate to say it, but something has got to give - and if I have to choose, its gonna be metrics. I will not ignore patients standing at my counter because I'm more concerned about meeting arbitrary goals. However, that stance got me a poor performance review because I'm not meeting certain goals therefore I wasn't allowed to get a staff RPh position this year.
