Thank you for the feedback. Waters and Sims has been providing job placement and job training for clients in need since 1996 and our services are completely State and county funded. As owners we have successfully navigated extreme funding cuts, lack of hourly rate increase for SE services and rising healthcare cost while still consistently compensating our employees with: annual raises, quarterly bonuses, a generous PTO package (5 weeks), paid holidays (14) and medical insurance (70% employer paid). Our salary is competitive within the field of Supported Employment and in addition we offer quarterly incentives for those employees who excel in their position. The very nature of working in the field of social services requires our employees be flexible, mature, adaptable to change in procedure and & policy as required by our funding sources, have excellent writing skills, be highly organized and most importantly they must love the work they do and the clients they work with. As owners we have an open-door policy, our Program Coordinators have an open-door policy and our team of experienced Employment Specialist are available to provide help and assistance whenever it is needed. We would welcome you to meet with us any time to discuss your feed back and concerns.

Pros

Working for Monica & Lauren was wonderful. I had the luxury of working for Monica for almost 9 months and I was so glad she was my boss. Monica is so kind, understanding, and so funny. Monica is also very motherly and loves teaching her staff how to be better. I cannot say enough great things about Monica.

Pros

Pay, Time off, Paid holidays, Flexible scheduling, Incentives, raises, paid mileage

Cons

Work load is absolutely crazy!!! Management isn't the best, case load started small then grew and grew, my caseload always changed, they would often make you drive farther than originally asked even out of the county. i had to used my own car. You had to do all the work remote or in your car. They wanted every single message to be answered immediately no matter what... you can get in trouble if you didn't. Management was unprofessional and often talked badly about the others in the agency. Training was all online but when you moved into the job they expect you to know everything. You get to shadow another worker after but its very awkward. asking for help was scary but necessary. many of my coworkers and I were afraid to mess up or do anything wrong... we were always doing something not right by our managements standards. No fairness between employees. we were all treated differently and given different requirements for our work. My coworker would write a sentence for their notes where i was expected to write a lot and if i didn't my boss would say i didn't do enough work and it was not justifiable enough. my manager would nick-pick everything i did...even my clothes, or how i loooked.. she would even make comments about me looking tired. I was always overworked and then given more and more work. Id be working all day even after i was off... that was the norm there.

We appreciate all feedback, though we do feel the need to provide clarification. Our work is in the field of Supported Employment; positions that require professionalism, attention to detail, and accurate documentation and punctuation. The expectation that case notes be thorough and well-written is not “nitpicking,” but simply a standard in a field where our counselors hold master’s degrees and our documentation directly impacts the lives of the individuals we serve. Regarding comments on appearance: staff are expected to report to work in clean clothing, with hair brushed and an overall presentation that reflects respect for our clients and community partners. Looking “professional” is part of being professional. On management “interactions”: professionalism is expected on both sides. It is never appropriate to tell a supervisor that they “make enough money to buy you alcohol” during a team lunch. Boundaries matter, and so does respect. As for workload, travel, and responsiveness: this is a community-based job. Yes, staff use their own cars with miles driven being riembursed and yes, caseloads evolve depending on referrals, school contracts, and county needs. Responsiveness is not about “every single message,” but about timely communication to ensure continuity of services for vulnerable populations who depend on us. It is a common business practice to respond to a supervisors email, in all industries. Training is provided through structured modules, shadowing, and ongoing supervision. Asking for help is encouraged, but so is initiative and accountability. All staff have bi-monthly meetings with their supervisors so there is not a lack of support given to all staff. We know this work isn’t for everyone—it requires intelligence, professionalism, compassion, and resilience. For those who meet those expectations, it is deeply rewarding work with a strong and supportive team.
