Pros

Open 24/7. Usually starts at $9/hr. Better than working fast food. Hires young people and very old people. Plenty of hours available if you are a solid, steady worker. You can move up to shift manager pretty quickly.

Cons

Management or lack there of, Favoritism(ie: starting one cashier at $9/hr and another at $11/hr, lack of communication, scheduling workers 12 or 13 hour shifts sometimes with little sleep between the next (9p-5a then next day in at 9am.) God forbid you have to call out, they will act like you are the scum of the earth for it and make you call someone to come in for you. Need a week's vacation or two? Unless you're upper management, or a lousy worker, it's going to be like pulling teeth to get approved even if you put in months in advance. Oh, you need a break on that 10 hour shift? If you beg for one maybe, unless you are a minor or smoke. They have very high expectations... One person putting away the truck and running back and forth like a maniac to the cash register to ring customers. This company has become all about greed, they could care less about their employees. We never get any kind of appreciation for hard work l, coming in on a day off or staying late when asked. They used to give out goosebumps but they don't even do that now. Last year "employee appreciation day" m&ms and chex mix in a small shot glass size cup in the breakroom. You can move up but unless you're an AGM or GM, the pay isn't much better for the expectations and lack of training provided. High employee turn over rate. They rarely ever want to hire, they would rather be short staffed.

Pros

As a supervisor you can control the work environment to the best of your ability to make the store a great place to be for customers/coworkers. Pay is at a decent starting level for the position.

Cons

Basic Associates only accrue PTO creating issues with Work/Life balance unless you've made it a long time without needing to take a day. Attendance Point System is unforgiving without readily available PTO. As management differs between stores experiences may vary.
