Pros

-Young company, typical "start up" environment (i.e. casual dress, beer served at Friday meetings, couches, snacks) -Sometimes host meetings and interviews with CEOs from other start ups to learn about their experiences - Mostly fun and nice employees

Cons

My time at WayUp was short lived because of the emotional toll it took on me. I started in an entry level position right out of college working to approve and edit job postings on the site. By the end of my first week I was expected to understand how to fully use the software without any training whatsoever. On my first day I stayed until 8pm and felt uncomfortable about being the first one to leave. I worked on Saturdays from home and was actually told on the following Monday that because I had not edited and approved two jobs over the weekend that the revenue for the entire company had dropped. This all happened within the first two weeks of working at WayUp. I always felt like I wasn't good enough or doing something wrong from the management and would not want to go to work on most days. Lastly, I knew an employer who posted a job on the site and had some students respond, but after reaching out to them, got no answers. The entire concept for the website is to connect students with jobs, but at the end of the day, I think the lack of effective, supportive management takes away from the values and goals of the company.

Thanks for your feedback! We definitely remember you, and we're so sorry that you had a poor experience working at WayUp back in 2015. We have fortunately been able to grow a ton as both a business and as a product, and are really proud of the processes we've put in place since. That being said, no one should have felt this much pressure while being employed for only two weeks at a company, so please accept our apology, and thank you for the feedback! We'll strive to continue improving our onboarding and training as we grow.

Pros

- Company is focused on growth: not just its own metrics, but its employees'. I know a few people who took classes which WayUp paid for; and everyone loves the Lunch and Learns and the weekly all hands (where people show/teach each other what we're working on) etc.... - Everyone here keeps saying this, but again, the people are the best; the smartest employee group I've ever encountered - CEO is inspiring and so smart, and self-aware of what she does and doesnt know (she's young but seems to have lots of mentorship); she works way too much though so hopefully the VPs they're hiring will take things off her plate - Mission is great - I've never felt micromanaged in my job. I think the only people who get micromanaged are the people who aren't right for their job, and they tend to not be around long - Company moves so fast

Cons

- Liz and JJ are currently hiring their Senior Management team, which we all are excited for. Based on the first hire of the three, I'm optimistic about the other two. But in the meantime, the company has gotten to where it is today through mid-level leaders who were learning on the job. This has been a growing pain for everyone at the company, which I think everyone is excited to get past - There were a lot of really bad hiring mistakes made in 2016 that resulted in some not-great people joining (most of them are now gone) and seemingly leaving bad glassdoor reviews lol
