Pros
This job will introduce you to so many different industries and allow you to discover your interests in them. It was so interesting to read about new topics each week and learn about new audiences. It makes writers very adaptable and develops their research skills. Additionally, the company really does highlight a learning mindset, encouraging writers to improve their skills or knowledge so they can grow as individuals and team members.
Cons
Probably one of the hardest parts of this job was the isolation. As a remote position, I was worried about feeling isolated at home. Projects were terribly independent. There weren't teams focusing on specific, high-volume clients and there wasn't any encouragement for collaboration or notes sharing for individuals working on requests from the same client. The only interaction I got with coworkers was a 30 minute meeting with my project manager every 3-6 weeks. It was nice, but it wasn't enough. They did start doing team meetings, but those were still infrequent and short, leaving little room to get to know people and really work with them. Further, these meetings focused on each copywriter giving a "tip" which just seemed like a bit of a waste of time. It could've been a great opportunity to create an online chat thread. Instead, I would've used the meetings to really explore SEO and Google updates, review marketing trends, and go over any internal tech updates for writers, so we could better serve clients.
