Pros

I met some of the brightest and most hard-working individuals at this company who I would still consider friends. They made the environment worth it, and I am grateful for the lessons and skills I gained from collaborating with them. I have a lot of respect for the mission statement and the space they are disrupting. There was never a dull moment.

Cons

This is one of 4 start-ups I have worked for in my career thus far. I have worked and collaborated in this space for nearly a decade now, and I have never felt so gaslighted as I did at this company. Using the title of 'start up' is no excuse for the way in which resources are misallocated. For a company trying to make the country a better place for the average person, they do not treat their employees well. For the size Wefunder is at, the burn rate of cash on unnecessary 'perks' is alarming. Favoritism bodes inefficiency and mistrust. They do not take the safety of their customer's money seriously, noted by the number of threats to agencies that come through their inbox. The most significant factor in my departure was the lack of HR: I felt uncomfortable and unsafe during an employee on-site and there was no way for me to report it. I did not feel comfortable saying anything because the individual responsible was very close to the leadership team.
