Pros
Participants
Advocating change in mental health
Cons
While claiming to support community wellbeing, they undermine it through chronic understaffing, unchecked misconduct, and a culture of retaliation. Staff are not held accountable for poor work standards, toxic behaviours, or service delivery failures that directly harm participants’ mental health. Concerns about unsafe or incompetent workers are silenced, and those who speak up are punished instead of supported. Management ignores operational risks, buries reports, and prioritise appearances over participant safety. The service is part of stigma the mental health sector is meant to fight, masking dysfunction behind Medicare funding and Wellways branding. If you value your own mental health, look elsewhere: leaders here will not protect you, nor will they model the values they preach. What this organisation portrays to funders and the public is not the reality lived by staff or participants. It is a system in decline, perpetuating stigma, and failing the very people it claims to serve.
