Pros
You come away with an abundance of great interview answers if you're ever asked "Can you tell me something challenging you've encountered in the workplace?"
Cons
There is a huge senior management bias towards making sales at any cost, with no consideration for any other part of the process. As such, there is a massive cultural divide between those "in the club" who enjoy an easy ride, and those who have to work extremely hard for absolutely no recognition. A vast weight of pressure is piled on those who have to deliver the unrealistic promises that have been made, only to be the ones then blamed when it inevitably can't be executed as agreed. Needless to say, extremely demoralising. On top of this, poor middle managers pass down stress to those already under high pressure for the reasons described, rather than helping to temper the expectations of those above them – let alone making any effort to relieve the situation. You are flatly labelled as 'stressed' and 'weak' for voicing that the environment is incredibly unpleasant, with senior management having no interest in listening to the nuance of why people might be feeling that way (someone very high up once said in my presence "if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen", incapable of acknowledging that he set the kitchen on fire and was standing in reach of the extinguisher). Consequently, there seems to be a revolving-door approach to recruitment; it must be deemed easier to hire new staff members on a yearly basis than listen to or act upon any valid criticism.
