Cons
Ever since CDPQ acquired the majority of the stake of Wizeline the company turned into another consulting company looking for profit instead of the wellness of their employee. - Micro Management and Bad Managers: Some managers are absolutely not prepared to handle the Wizeline culture (mostly on the natural drive account). - Multiple Layoffs: Layoffs were not handled correctly (they just disconnected the account of their employee without a notice period or even a warning) they were hidden and not clearly communicated with fired and not fired employees. At the moment you stop giving profit to the company you become a target of the next layoff (two weeks on the bench and you get fired). - Remote Working is in the process to get removed. During the pandemic, Wizeline went 100% online. In may 2022 they launched a prototype for returning optionally to the office they claimed we would always have the chance to work remotely if we wanted to. today Dec 15th they announced we will have to attend 3 day spers week minimum without an strict check in but still if you want to not attend the office you have to ask for the permission with your manager (where is the flexibility on that). this only applies for people living in GDL and CDMX metropolitan areas but some people even do 2-4 hours of commuting and still they will be required to go to the office. Also those who got a monitor and a chair from the office have to return it to the office which is bad if you still want to work from home a couple of days. - Food: Before the pandemic the food at the office was one of the coolest things ever. Breakfast, Lunch and dinner was served and it was delicous offering light, regular, vegetarian and vegan options. It was buffet like style. Now they removed breakfast and dinner and the lunch will cost 25 pesos. The amount of food will be measured by the catering service and you wont be able to request for more. - Poor benefits: Most companies offer unlimited pto while Wizeline is only offering 12 days of vacations + 3 floating days (in mexico that will be the minimum next year thanks to the new working labour laws), there is no visible stock options and there are no bonuses for performance. There is no gym/wellness allowance or bonus. There is no coworking budget for those who work remotely in cities where there is no office. The end of the year event was miserable for a company that does billons of profit per year. They did not allow us to invite +1. They raffled 10 gifts for 500+ persons in gdl 5 for 200+ in CDMX and 10 for 800+ online persons (less than 2% of the employees won someting). - Salaries are not competitive: Before pandemic wizeline was above the average on salaries, nowdays even startups are paying more. Software Engineer L1: starting from 32K montly before taxes. Software Engineer L2: starting from 40K montly before taxes. Software Engineer L3: starting from 50K montly before taxes. While other companies like Etsy and Lyft are paying for L3 80 and 90k just for you to get an idea. Raises of salary and/or level are super hard to get and you need to wait months before the resolution is done. I was invited to evaluate a coworker (since I was a leader) and I realize that human resources was strongly looking for excuses not to give the raise to that engineer. Even if you get approved the raise of level or salary, the difference will be minimum, even 700 pesos per month for a raise of salary which is definitely unacceptable. Consider all of this before joining the company.
