Pros

Has a fascinating history. WDC was a pioneer in designing and constructing affordable housing for low-income single parent families back when male developers (so, all developers) saw improving a neighborhood as synonymous with pushing single moms and their kids out.

Cons

WDC has won awards for diversity, but in my opinion they're not deserved. The all-white development/management wing is out of touch with their low income tenants. I heard disparaging comments about the South Side neighborhood that WDC is located in and serves. Also surprisingly gossipy for a small office. My whole time there I felt like I was walking on eggshells. I agree that there can be a lot of useless busywork. My experience was with WDC, but HOC is probably a better place to work.

Pros

If nothing else, this job was a good networking opportunity.

Cons

This is a horrible place to work. You will be extremely overworked and underpaid with no chance for a raise. Management does not trust employees to do assigned tasks and will micromanage you to the point of insanity. More than half of your day will be filled with useless busy work that management insists is critical, and you will have to work overtime to complete your important tasks. Overtime is not rewarded, it is expected.
