Pros
The company offers some valuable benefits, including monthly team member discounts, membership cards, and internal opportunities to transfer across locations—including in Australia, as part of the same retail chain. One perk I appreciated was being allowed to listen to music during shifts before 7 a.m., which made the early hours more bearable.
Cons
The workplace culture seemed welcoming initially but proved to be very differently executed when I experienced unstructured downtime that resulted in regular gossip sessions by some employees, perhaps an indication of boredom or undefined responsibilities. The task itself proved to be physically strenuous, involving lengthy walking periods and minimal structured break times. There was an overall no-talking policy that lasted throughout working periods, which resulted in a stiff and remote atmosphere. Regrettably, I experienced consistent racist and bullying issues, even from members of senior management. There existed claims of support but not much follow-through. This resulted in making it hard to resolve concerns or feel emotionally secure within the surroundings. As a whole, though I appreciate what I gained from the lessons and developing resilience, I would like to seek a healthier, respectful, and growth-focused environment.
