Pros

There were some genuinely great coworkers who supported each other through the chaos. Early on, the company was solving a real problem for QSRs during the "Great Resignation" and it felt exciting to be part of that.

Cons

Workstream has completely lost its way. Leadership changes direction constantly with no clear strategy. The founders say they’re “humble and hungry” but operate with arrogance and zero openness to feedback. It’s top-down, and disagreement isn’t tolerated. They only want yes-men. The payroll product is unreliable, yet still being pushed aggressively. Layoffs are frequent. When people leave, they often aren’t replaced, which just increases the workload on those left behind. Burnout is widespread. Raises are rare. Career growth is stagnant. Work-life balance is terrible, especially for US-based teams who are expected to accommodate Asia schedules. There’s a major disconnect between GTM and Engineering. The Engineering team in China doesn’t seem to understand how hiring and payroll actually work in the U.S and it shows in the product. Also, anytime a negative review shows up here, the company floods Glassdoor with clearly manufactured 5-star reviews. It’s obvious and embarrassing.

Pros

- Sadly, pros mostly outweighed by cons - coworkers are nice people

Cons

This is not a place to grow a career. It is a place where people burn out, disengage, and leave quickly. Accountability is almost nonexistent, and employees are treated differently based on favoritism rather than performance, effort, or results (you can sell more in 1 month what another rep did in 2 quarters, and get PIP'd). Leadership starts and ends with the CEO, who's extremely pushy and ego drives decision-making more than data, feedback, or employee outcomes. There is little interest in employee development, success, or retention. Turnover is treated as normal instead of a serious red flag. Every month seems like a new collective of new hires, which says everything about morale and leadership effectiveness. The company consistently over-promises and under-delivers both to customers and internally to new hires. From day one there is blatant dishonesty, the role is not what’s sold during the interview process. Resources are limited, expectations are unrealistic, and support is minimal. Burnout is widespread and openly acknowledged by employees, yet never meaningfully addressed by management. Limited accounts and opportunities are distributed based on favoritism, making success impossible for many regardless of how hard they work. If you value your time, mental health, or long-term career trajectory, you are better off applying elsewhere. This company is on a path to continue losing talent and credibility.
