Don't waste your time - Veterinary Assistant Wright Veterinary Employee Review

Pros

Working with all kinds of animals, reptiles, birds, wildlife and domesticated animals. Friendly coworkers and learning new skills.

Cons

They over work the assistants, we did everything and got paid nothing. We restrained, got blood, filled prescriptions, did some lab work, took X-rays, gave vaccines, cleaned ears, trimmed nails, stocked, cleaned, answered phones, took patient history, helped with euthanasia. Most of the older veterinarians/partners there were rude, and treat you like garbage. Some of the younger ones were very nice and informative. People working at UPS and Fedex as package handlers made way more money than the assistants did at Wrights.

Pros

Great learning experience. Monthly staff meetings. Frequent lunch and learns held on site. Benefits include money towards pet insurance. Will take in any animal (wild or feral) and provide care if savable. Forward thinking medicine.

Cons

High turn-over. No young blood in upper management. Work-aholic culture. Business inefficiencies (redundant medical codes, cumbersome check out process, no staff dedicated to making estimates or monitoring the schedule).
