Management are limited in business planning, so when the shop is quiet, you end up spending a lot of time cleaning, instead of being able to seek out opportunities. You are supposed to coach and mentor your teams and lead by example so when you’re not there, the performance does not drop. Direction was quite passive aggressive. During checking off the delivery one day, I received a call on the shop phone from one of the owners, who asked how we were looking figures related, I said I was currently checking off the delivery, however my supervisor was on the shop floor offered to go downstairs to take a read of the sales, which I was told no need and that they were not checking up, just wanted to ask a question. Within a couple of days an email went out stating managers should be on the shop floor and not checking deliveries off in so many words. The introduction to the business was initially great, however managers sent to train, particularly 1, didn’t have anything nice to say about anyone really, and basically created the mindset you were spied on and gossiped about the current team there and other managers. Overall I enjoyed my time there and only left due to personal circumstances, i would of loved to see how my journey would of gone, under different circumstances.
