Pros
Work is not that hectic and it is kinda engaging.
Cons
I worked at Yoti for four years until December of last year. As a North Indian woman, it was challenging to thrive in that environment. I experienced minimal career growth during my time there. When I first joined in 2020, the management under Yash was supportive, but following his departure, the company's management and work culture deteriorated significantly. There was a clear bias against non-Tamilian and non-Kannadiga employees. Despite being more qualified, I never had a fair opportunity to apply for leadership roles or other positions. Opportunities seemed to be given to those who were South Indian and had close ties with the management. Over time, my disillusionment grew, and I began to take my work less seriously. While the projects at Yoti were engaging, the work experience as a checker didn’t provide transferable skills for other roles. However, not all employees shared the same experiences. I encountered some wonderful colleagues who never displayed any prejudice towards me. Still, I witnessed significant language-based discrimination, not just against me, but also against other non-South Indian employees, including some excellent team leads. This issue continues, as I understand it. The number of North Indian employees at Yoti has dwindled, with many talented team leaders leaving due to toxic management and internal politics. A handful of disruptive checkers continue to poison the work environment, perpetuating this discrimination, with the management’s apparent endorsement. It is my belief that the company’s UK headquarters is aware of these issues but prioritizes business growth over the well-being of employees, showing little regard for the mental health of the workforce.
