Pros

Mostly the people are great, there is a lot of flexibility around working hours and working from home. there isn't much bureaucracy and the dress code is casual.

Cons

The UL takeover hasn't improved things and the business still doesn't seem to have direction. 18 people have left the company since the start of 2016, which is huge turnover from around 150 staff. Development has moved to using an Agile methodology which the developers like but which is a disaster for the rest of the business. There aren't enough people to complete projects that have been committed to leading to incredible pressure on project managers and other people whose job it is to see that work is completed. Salary progression is poor once you are in with little job progression.

First of all I appreciate the thoughtful response, and I'm sorry that you feel the balance isn't right. There's definitely a great deal of pressure on the delivery side of the business. This has been acknowledged and we're working on it. Acquisitions are tricky. On the one-hand UL have been very conscious that we don't want to wade in and try to make big changes without properly understanding the dynamics involved; on the other, the business has grown quickly and continuous and rapid change comes with the territory. Systematizing some of the Agile development processes was relatively quick because the essentials were already in place. We still think Agile is the right way to go, as it reflects the fact that customer and business priorities change, whilst making the developers more efficient. The additional project owner and project architect roles in these teams has made this part of the business more scalable, and things like the stakeholder meetings every two months allow people from all sides of the business to help set priorities in a transparent and open way. The delivery part of the business (where a lot of the current pressure is felt) is about to go through a significant structural change too. This has taken longer to put in place than we wanted but is a big change and we wanted to consult with the people who are most impacted. This is being accompanied by a change in tooling to help support the project management process. We definitely appreciate feedback and are listening hard – please bear with us as we go into the next 6 months together.

Pros

cr360 works in an interesting space - sustainability & EHS data management is still a comparatively new field which holds a lot of intellectual and ethical interests. Many roles in the company involve direct client interactions and the client base is so diverse in terms of geographies and industries, and includes some large and complex companies. This means regularly liaising with the Sustainability/EHS departments of our clients, and genuinely helping them make a difference. The overriding culture in the business is quite entrepreneurial, in that people with good ideas have the freedom to share them and ultimately to change things. There aren't too many layers of management to get in the way of progress. I started in a junior role and within two years was in a senior management role. This culture also acts as a filter of sorts. Some people find the lack of structure in some areas difficult to work with, but those who can adapt to a bit of ambiguity tend to do well and grow with the company. I honestly feel I'm working with my peers most of the time - it's a predominantly intelligent and dynamic team of people. The software really is great. You often see competitor software at trade shows or when you're replacing an existing system for a client and it's reassuring to know that what we offer is one of the market leaders for good reason.

Cons

Growing so quickly has come with some problems. Sometimes processes are applied as a 'silver bullet' solution but then are just as quickly ignored or changed as they weren't really applicable in the first place. We also lack some strong leaders/managers in some areas of the business which means not all teams have matured and evolved as quickly as others. Under the strain of rapid growth this often causes some pretty classic inter-departmental tensions, but most people are rational enough to resolve such issues reasonably quickly.

Pros

cr360 is a fast growing, exciting company to work for. The Sustainability, EHS and Supply Chain, software solutions we provide are second to none in our industry. I have worked for several software companies(including some of my current competitors) during my long career and cr360 is by far the best company and product. The senior management staff at cr360 is always willing to listen to and consider new ideas and approaches. The management team goes out of its way provide employees the opportunity for growth and to gain experience in areas where they can succeed. The communication both internally and externally at cr360 is far better than my previous employers. cr360 also listens to it's clients and the marketplace when it comes to new features for the software. The overall goal is to provide a configurable product that can wrap around the clients processes while not forcing the customer to change the way they conduct their business. I truly feel that this is an excellent place to work with a very strong management team.

Cons

There are no cons here at cr360. You can make your own path and succeed.
