Pros
The opportunity to help animals and improve their quality of life, which can be a very rewarding experience. Meet and build relationships with a lot of people who have the same viewpoint as you regarding their love of animals. Great mentors. Benefits! Very good benefits. 401k, Healthcare, Dental, Vision Skill building in multiple subjects: surgery, dental cleaning, anesthesia, catheterization, radiology, phlebotomy, restraint, laboratory, client services, concierge, hospitality, bookkeeping, detail orientation, and time management. Flexible scheduling, although also in the con section, can pick the days you want to work and the manager is good at respecting your schedule. As long as you pay it forward for others you never have any issues. The hospital is open plan.
Cons
Major emotional challenges - Euthanasia is a part of the job. Clients will use you as their therapist. Some people will never respect you. Rude, hateful, mean people. Physically demanding - Working 5 days a week, 11 hours a day with rotating weekend shifts. This job will consume your whole life, with little to no life/work balance. Depending on how receptive you are to responsibility you're expected to stay after hours because other coworkers did not finish the opening/closing task lists. Understaffed, eliminate the nepotism to have a more competent and complete staff. Paid Time Off, seems to be optional as it was never an option while working there. The hospital is open plan.
