Pros
Interesting and varied work that includes curriculum development, assessment research and education policy. Some of the work the company does contributes to assessments and standards systems at state and national levels, and this allows not only to have great impact, but to also learn about different aspects of policy implementation. Co-workers are friendly, intelligent, and dedicated to their work. The Assistants are particularly hard working and diligent! The company also provides great benefits in terms of contributions to 401K, use of comp time, and vacation time. In addition, there are great perks to the job, including fun social activities employees. If you have a family, the flexibility of the hours can be a great asset. If you are starting out your career, this is a great option to get exposed to the ins and outs of policy implementation, while also developing project management skills.
Cons
Depending on the project, the workload can be heavy at times, but this is not a constant.By the same token, work can feel a little slow when we are transitioning between projects and there is not as much urgency. It can also be hard to move up in the hierarchy, but not impossible.
