Pros
large company-some security there I suppose-I'm part time, so actually fairly neutral-no chance for full time here that I know of=that's really because the budget is not conducive to it - that is the reality of the situation=also, when you are coming into a company like clear channel now, there is less opportunity for full time...it's just not available...more people are voicetracking=that means there's more automation=they do the same thing at my former place of employment Meridian Broadcasting. In the future, they may only have a morning team, and possibly an afternoon "crew"-weekends will probably be most if not all on an automated system=companies save money...that's a fact!
Cons
radio is a downside these days-not like it was=automation is taking more precedence some people unfairly paid more than others..my experience at Meridian Broadcasting in Ft Myers, Fl-"laid off" after being full time for the most part in radio since 1980...You come into the "game" and you realize after being in radio for a long time, most people go no where=after all, if you get full time on=air that's considered pretty good. next step up is program director/operations manager, and obviously not everyone can or wants to do that part of the job...unless you really "rate" with management, you are obsolete before you know it...
