In order to sign with a real estate company you must sign a contract with clearly state your commission rate. As a real estate professions, it is a responsibility of an agent to interact and communicate all aspect of real estate with their managing broker. I would suggest in the future, when you are employed by a company, you read your agency contract, policy and procedures clearly and interact with other agents in an office. It's unfortunately but in real estate, agent needs to be communicative not only to clients but to their supervisors and other agents.
