Pros
I started at iOPW in September of 2016 and I applied to the content creator role for one of the proprietary platforms that was being developed at the time. Mind you I had no previous tech start up experience nor was I an 'English' major. I do and have always had however a strong affinity for writing so i figured why not try it out? As part of the interview process I was asked to submit three pieces of original writing which I gladly handed over just for an opportunity to write. At the time I was stuck at a boring HR Administration job. I was so nervous and thought it was pointless to go through the process as I was not a 'Digital communications' grad by any means, yet 2 weeks later I was in. The point of my story? I applied to iOPW on a whim because i really wanted to write and they have offered me so much more than just an opportunity to explore writing, experience and industry knowledge. They believed that I had something to offer their company despite not having the typical credentials. They believed that I could achieve more with a little encouragement and that is what they have helped me to do. Since having started in 2016, I have moved from being a content writer to learning more about the industry as a whole and expanding my digital marketing skills through continued learning and schooling. I could have NEVER done any of that without iOPW's continued support and belief in my skills. Additional PROs: -positive office vibes -bottomless coffee -balanced work/life balance -work remotely on occasion -NOBODY MICRO MANAGES ME as long as you complete your projects, are responsible and the clients are kept happy, it's all good. -sometimes I get to cuddle with dogs 🐕
Cons
-no health benefits BUT the other perks make it all worth it -periods of some stress to bring projects to completion but that's to be expected in any project-based industry
