Pros
Besides the ability to work remotely there are no pros to working at Mxtr.
Cons
I’ll start at the interview process and work my way to separation. I was promised half of the 3rd party leads and demo sets in the interview and hiring process, and told this software is first if it’s kind for dealerships. I was told whatever tools I needed to simply ask. I signed my offer letter in early December for a Jan 2nd start date and was immediately asked to work without pay and attend multiple meetings prior to my start date. When I advised the founder Joe that I would not work prior to my start date without pay he acted offended, said of course I’d be paid “an hour of pay per meeting” when I’m a salaried employee. I advised I would need my full day rate based on salary for any days I had meetings and he asked if we should just forget it and not have me work for them, this is a breach of labor laws and an brazen intimidation tactic I haven’t seen in tech in my 10 years as an AE. After I told him that’s not acceptable he agreed to pay me the day rate, until my actual start date when he said that was it fair and pressured me to accept half of the agreed amount, again not legal. Upon starting work, I was barred from access to the software I was meant to sell, given no collateral to send prospects, and provided only 1 hour of training. Joe’s utter refusal to show me the ins and outs of the service I was meant to sell was a huge red flag, and advised I needed to understand what I was actually selling, especially since he wanted me to sell into my network, he said maybe I should target less educated verticals like ag and heavy equipment where owners were less versed in marketing and wouldn’t need to know how it actually worked in order to buy. This all lead to my firing a mere 6 weeks after start date and unequivocally the worst employment experience of my adult life. This product is a sham, the ownership are ignorant and abusive, and they will promise you the world and deliver exactly none of what was agreed upon.
