Pros

- Very intelligent colleagues with great backgrounds from academia - Impressive internal technology for leveraging EHR data - Access to full Mayo clinic data

Cons

- Systemic culture of fear, and bad behavior is allowed to persist and sometimes even rewarded - Lots of favoritism by leadership with no guidelines for how to be successful other than to impress the founders - No clear vision, strategy, or roadmap. Priorities change hourly and employees are informed of these changes via public slack messages from leadership (even on nights & weekends) expecting them to drop everything and build something new immediately with no understanding of how it points to the bigger picture - Individual contributors are not allowed to have their own ideas or opinions, everything comes from the top with a mandate to execute

Many directions of value creation to pursue for any one with drive. Plenty of opportunities to learn and contribute to healthcare transformation.

Pros

- Great compensation for a sophomore computer science major. - Approachable staff - Great work culture and work life balance - More freedom given to work on projects, less grunt work.

Cons

- Have to sometimes aggressively pursue higher-ups to get more work. - Less structured than a standard internship, less training and more about learning on the job (although this could be a pro to some).
