Pros

I was able to learn a lot during my time there and enjoyed working with everyone at the company. The office had great snacks and CEO is really passionate about his products. Everyone's really hardworking. Immediately was asked to take ownership on projects.

Cons

Unclear expectation for new employees and communication was not transparent. I didn't know who my manager was and had no support as a new employee and relatively new to the industry.

Cons

I worked at Roomvu and feel it’s important to share my honest experience for those considering joining the company. Unfortunately, the promises made by the company do not align with reality. The salary you see for your position will likely not match what you actually receive. In my experience, the CEO, Sam Mehrbod, aims to pay as little as possible, often disregarding the initial salary agreements. HR, which is based in Iran, has little interaction with employees and has a track record of late payments—sometimes up to 5 or 6 days after the pay period ends. Here are some key points from my time at the company: Salaries are often lower than advertised, and bonuses and goals are set unrealistically high. Employees are regularly given more tasks with little to no structure, and the team is often overwhelmed. Performance is constantly criticized, regardless of the workload or results. The work environment lacks any formal structure, both in roles and in employee benefits. If you're a woman, be aware that the work culture may feel hostile, as there is a lack of respect and professionalism in how women are treated. Payments are regularly delayed, and the CEO may make light of your financial situation. There is a constant sense of stress among the team, and morale is low. While you may learn some things, please keep these concerns in mind before making any decisions. The company may seem ideal at first, but the underlying issues will eventually become apparent. Consider carefully before joining.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We value honest feedback and are sorry to hear you encountered these concerns during your time with roomvu. We would like to address several points you raised: Compensation & Payment Practices We strive for transparency and fairness in both our salary structure and performance-based programs. Depending on the role, compensation may include multiple elements: a base salary plus a point-based commission, with daily, weekly, or monthly targets depending on the team. These targets and expectations are clarified before joining. Monthly Commission & Quarterly Bonuses: Commissions earned in a given month are paid by the 15th of the following month, allowing us to verify all related information (including any refunds). Additionally, quarterly bonuses are paid in the fourth month following the period in which they are earned. Payment Schedule Compliance: We comply with all statutory requirements for pay periods and ensure employees are compensated according to local labor regulations. If anyone experiences discrepancies between a proposed salary and actual payment, we encourage them to reach out to HR or management so we can address the issue promptly. HR & Employee Support While we occasionally leverage remote advisors and consultants—similar to many fast-growing companies—our key departments, including HR, are based in Canada and actively coordinate to ensure employees receive prompt and consistent support. We are fully compliant with relevant employment regulations in each jurisdiction where we operate, and we continually refine our policies to facilitate timely responses to any concerns. Workload & Role Clarity We recognize that workloads can fluctuate, especially in a rapidly evolving environment. We have introduced clearer structures around roles and responsibilities, along with regular check-ins between team members and their leads. We have daily meeting with discipline leads, and each sub groups have their weekly meetings, allowing the information to flow both ways. Respect & Professionalism for All Employees We take any suggestion of disrespect or discrimination extremely seriously. With approximately 40% of our workforce being women—many of whom lead entire teams—we strive to maintain a diverse, inclusive culture. Discrimination or hostile behavior of any kind has no place at roomvu. If anyone experiences or witnesses such behavior, they can report it directly to HR or escalate it to senior management for a thorough investigation. Morale & Culture Initiatives We are committed to fostering a positive environment. In addition to quarterly team-building events, office gatherings, and Friday afternoon foosball tournaments, we hold offsite get-togethers that bring together our diverse team members and contractors. We also have recognition programs in place to celebrate both team achievements and individual contributions (i.e. star of the week). If our efforts fell short during your tenure, we welcome more specific insights on how we might improve. If you have further concerns or believe there are unresolved issues, please reach out to our HR department so we can address them directly. Thank you for taking the time and providing feedback.
