Pros

- solid mission-driven product - highly qualified and professional coworkers - generous benefits, including fully remote work - passionate and supportive users - friendly and supportive culture

Cons

pre-acquisition: - unpredictable management driven by strong personalities, not by data - unequal pay, including some salaries less than their "official" income bands - very limited growth opportunities within the company - interdepartmental politics post-acquisition: as above, plus: - many, many people and roles replaced or eliminated outright - management demanding dramatic results in an unrealistic amount of time - company focus shifting towards profit at all costs, which means sacrificing quality of work in favor of faster production - huge amount of resources put into unpopular and ill-advised projects

Pros

So many kids have used and loved the app. An amazing company of caring, talented people working on an amazing mission… until 2022.

Cons

When people look back on this era in EdTech, Byju's and their acquisition of companies like Epic will be remembered by many of us as a source of great destruction. Over and over, the top leadership at Byju's made some promise, plan, claim, or prediction, and over and over, the reality would turn out worse. Epic was one of the best companies in Silicon Valley and Byju's ruined it. The top leadership at Byju's is astonishingly self-congratulatory despite every reason we saw why they should feel otherwise.

Pros

None anymore. Every day is a struggle trying to collaborate with BYJUs and other teams whose leaders are more concerned with playing games than the non-VP/C-suite people whose livelihoods are at stake.

Cons

Poor communication across teams and companies; working with BYJUs has resulted in them setting expectations unrealistically high while hobbling the Epic team. A lot of asks to deliver double or triple the work in a fraction of the time while laying off half or more of our teams. I've never felt so exploited.
