Pros
Government contracts mean there are always projects and there is little risk of clients suddenly going bankrupt. Work hours are somewhat flexible and can be adjusted for a worker's personal situation. Modern, but not bleeding edge technology. Corporate culture stems from the technical roots of the company and is focused around getting the job done rather than painting a smiley picture. Professional education paid for by the company.
Cons
Some older projects can use outdated technology. For some positions salaries might be below market.
