Pros

Remote work, that's all that's positive

Cons

Terrible decision making at leadership level, siloed teams and full of cliques, no clear plan so the goal posts move constantly, no strategic direction, blame culture and lack of respect across teams

A once great business being derailed by terrible leadership

Pros

Remote working and flexibilty allowing for work/life balance

Cons

This business was a dream to work for, until the new CEO came in and turned it into a stereotypical corporate nightmare. Leadership is comprised entirely of the new CEO's friends, who have managed to achieve nothing of value in their time in the business, unless you count recklessly spending the entirety of the investment the original team worked to secure, with nothing to show for it. Decisions are overturned on a weekly basis, so direction for the business is non-existent, which has lead to a large portion of the Event Store team being unceremoniously shoved out the door with no explanation, sympathy or thanks. If you're looking for a case study of a successful and rapidly growing business being derailed by abysmal management, you might want to consider working here, otherwise I'd steer clear.

Pros

Flexible and remote working does help work life balance.

Cons

It used to be a fantastic, diverse company that cared for its employees. Unfortunately, that all changed with the new CEO. He hired his boomer buddies who are all talk, no execution. Sacked off entire teams for no real reason. Blown multi million pounds worth of investment on elaborate meetings with his "leadership" team (I.e. a bunch of overpaid people who can't make a decision). The diversity since he's joined has gone out the window, not just considering all his new hires are white, middle aged men but also given he's sacked off lots of women. If the lack of diversity and reckless spending doesn't bother you, the lack of execution and snails pace top down decision making probably will. You will make great plans that'll never see the light of day. It's the most demotivating place I've ever worked.
