Pros

Company has never had a lay-off in history. Job is 8-5 with 1 hour lunch. It's a no frills company so don't expect any free lunches or things of that nature

Cons

Hard to climb up the ladder in the technical track as the advancement path is not well defined. It's up to you an NBA your manager. No Telecommuting

Lousy for Programmers

Pros

Expeditors offers a good work-life balance and generally positive atmosphere.

Cons

Expeditors is basically a shipping company, like the post office. And like the post office, it's stodgy. They have core systems (actively maintained) written in Cobol. Their Java-development efforts are hampered by old frameworks and patterns. The bureaucracy is heavy, the pay is low, and there's no option to telecommute. It's the opposite type of environment in which smart, young, programmers thrive.

Pros

It's a great company for developers who don't want pagers or much stress from meeting project timeline. The company is very eager to adopt cutting edge technologies which gives you a lot of opportunities to grow.

Cons

Less than average pay rate. All decisions, related to technologies, are made by senior managers who don't know what they are doing.
