Pros

The starting pay is mediocre, benefits are fairly decent. The hours are nice for 8 hour employees. 7-3:30. Production Operators work 12 hour shifts, 6-6 four night on with four nights off.

Cons

The upper management style of this company indicates to the hourly employee that management is more worried about the bottom line than they are the welfare of their workers. HR has policies in place that are VERY unpopular within the workforce there. One policy in particular is used as a weapon; the Attendance Point policy. If you leave early or clock in late, point. Have a medical emergency on the clock and go to ER, you get a point. Ten points within a calendar year of the first you are terminated.

Great place for a new start

Pros

When I started looking for a new job it wasn’t out of necessity. Where I was in Portland paid well and had great benefits. As we all know that isn’t everything, the place was not for me, I was looking for something with better culture and respect for their employees. I was done seeing employees mistreated and disrespected. I knew exactly what I wanted in my new company so I started searching slowly and methodically. About four months into my search I came across Fiber Materials. I read some reviews which were very negative, this made me wonder because nothing in the reviews is what was portrayed to me on the phone by the HR representative. I realized reviews by former employees can sometimes be biased so I accepted the interview. I went through the process and the first thing that stood out was the amount of time the CEO of the company spent in my interview process. I realized right away this was a company that was dedicated to changing the past culture and was willing to hire the right people to do that. I started 3 months ago and it has been one of the best companies I have ever worked for. The leadership team is not only active in all policies and everyday activities but they truly care. They want employees to challenge them on issues to not only make FMI better but to make them better leaders. I myself have been challenged and forced to grow. I could go on but I won’t. So if you are looking for a career with a company that cares, commits, and executes then give FMI a chance you will be glad you did.

Cons

Honestly the biggest con is past behavior. It is easy to change things for the negative but 10 times harder to change it back. FMI has made great progress. My opinion don't base your decision on just negative or positive comments make the decision yourself.

Pros

Good starting pay. Good time off. Mediocre benefits.

Cons

No fault point system. Stuck in traffic due to accident it's a point. Snow storm...point. ten points equals termination. They don't drop off for a year. Not bringing in enough new staff. Skeleton crews.
