TOXIC Company you MUST AVOID

Pros

Niche products in the industry

Cons

FTDI is a privately-owned company with a toxic culture. The COO is a dictator who micro-manages all her staff with vulgarity, aggressiveness and bullying behaviour. Blaming and punishment from management is the norm. There is high employees turnover in all countries. Staff are scared and intimidated by her. Stressful and terrible work environment where you are made the scapegoat when things go wrong. The company offers minimum staff benefits and do not take care of their welfare.

Pros

cannot think of any benefits except this could be a place if one is looking for short term work arrangement. there may be one annual dinner arranged for all employees once in a year.

Cons

- this is an SME and have very low standard work culture. employees are treated like cheap laborers, almost like trash. there is nothing called ethics or conduct maintained at work place. so don't get deceived in interview. any problem you bring to manager's notice, what so ever the reason, (be it be technical, pay raise, ethics, work place collaboration issues), the first thing manager would ask you is to resign or else they will lay you off. best advice in this case is record every conversation you have with your team lead or manager for your safety. if one is harassed there for anything, please feel free to bring it to MOM's notice. if mention about MOM, the tone of their conversation changes. so the work place for sw team is just one small room that can fit around 12 employees with very closely packed desks (very small cubicle) and is micro managed every second - their attrition rate is extremely high. on an average, a new employee would stay there for few months to a year. company is very adamant to make any kind of changes to improve. this has been the case for many years now. reach out to past employees (LinkedIn), you'll know yourself - 9 to 6 is their work timings. notifications are sent through email or admins every time one is late by 5 to 10 minutes. it doesn't matter whether you work extra in the evening or not. the managers or team leads in SW department are very unprofessional. they have no proper metric to measure anybody's performance and keep unrealistic plans. - there are only 4 teams, technical side. all teams so many people leaving. there are around only 30+ employees in singapore. there is no sw standards or anything. just write code like you do in university. lots of lots of bugs. no design, plan, nothing. some consultants do some project and people here keep fixing. unable to sell their products. in sw team, the work is just to write some small, sample applications to show in exhibitions, nothing else. - untidy pantry, stinky too as open dustbins are kept next to sitting table. no good premises to eat food. the dustbins are cleared once in few days. 3 rooms are converted to work places. small cabins. toilets are very dirty, its common to all the offices in that floor. basically no good conditions to work. - pay is low compared t other competitors in industry. - they also operate under the name of Bridgetek (brtchip.com). be careful, they are same.join at your own risk. do find out more about the team before. Please write reviews of companies you've worked with which could really help others before making choice.

Pros

Basically there are none to mention.

Cons

First of all, the company run by an uncivil old hag who love to scold vulgarity on employees who has to work and liaise closely with her. (She is so lucky no one report her to the authority on this) Always scream and shout at employees when things don't get in her way. Challenge her and you be fired. High turn over rate in HR dept. SUPER micromanaged by those so call professional HR seniors from another entity. Very anal-retentive on minor issue like lunch hours as if it is recess time from primary school. Expect employee to work like robot. Do consider carefully if you are being offered.
