What a mess.

Pros

Pets at work, flexible hours, cool office space, growth potential (but only because the incredibly high turnover rate means there are always openings).

Cons

Chaotic and frustrating environment. The CEO is the worst micromanager I’ve ever worked with. Nothing ever gets done because he has to be involved in every single decision that gets made and he is constantly changing his mind. Strategies are constantly shifting, wasting endless amounts of money, time and energy on each new direction before it inevitably gets canned. Leadership doesn’t value quality staff, they don’t invest in them, they don’t do anything to encourage them to stay. So they leave in droves. In the 2 years I was there I saw 25+ of my immediate colleagues leave — and my department topped out around 20 people total. There is insane pay inequality, with no apparent rhyme or reason to it. Some talented, hardworking people got paid peanuts; others enjoyed very high salaries despite being basically useless. Some managers were paid less than their own direct reports. Yikes! I ignored many red flags when I took this job because it SEEMS like such a cool place to work, especially as an animal lover. The office is so colorful and cheery and it seems like people are just having fun all day, every day! But it’s very forced. Cake, beer, and dogs in the office simply do not make up for the insanity you have to deal with. Don’t work here. Don’t insure your pets here either, because they treat their customers just as badly as they treat their employees!

Pros

You can bring your dog to work a few days a week, as long as they have petplan insurance. Most of the people there are super nice - they all have a bond because management is so bad.

Cons

The co-CEOs were great business starters but have no clue how to grow a business. There is no HR department. Whatever the CEO thinks goes, and she has zero background in how to manage and lead people. The CEO is a control freak. You have no ability to bring your background or insights to the table. Benefits suck. Everyone there (especially in marketing) is scared for their jobs. The turnover is ridiculous. I witnessed them firing people who are phenomenal and could have helped them grow but they felt threatened by them or thought it was too much change (which is desperately needed)

Good for some, bad for others.

Pros

Decent benefits (although they pay a smaller percent of the benefits every year), PTO is great, lots of food and parties, relaxed in terms of dress code, pets in the office.

Cons

Pay is low. Much lower than the industry average. Management could really benefit by taking management classes. Communication is lacking. You will get two completely different answers on how to proceed depending on which manager you ask. The company is growing rapidly which is wonderful for job security - but there is often a huge push for employees to work a large amount of overtime. Not a great understanding of work / home life balance. When you are hired you are told there will be lots of opportunities to advance as the company grows - this is generally not true.
