Thank you for your review. Two of my favourite things about Finder are the strong company culture and working with smart people so it’s great to hear that they’re highlights for you as well. We did go through a period of aggressive growth and then had to adjust very quickly to changing market conditions. However, I’m confident that the new structure will help us rally around our key priorities and I’m excited for the growth ahead. - J

Pros

- There are a handful of good people at Finder trying to make a genuine difference

Cons

- There is very little transparency from leadership and most of the time they come across as being insincere - Leadership often present solutions rather than problems to be solved, so there are a lot of non-technical people making and influencing technical decisions which results in poorly defined projects - Even though its people are the key to its success, Finder does not invest in its culture, the only culture that leadership tries to instil is one one that is focused on the bottom line rather than the end user, copying perks like free lunches and a coffee machine in the office means there is a perceived culture rather than an actual culture - There is no support for serious training and career progression, there a few senior engineers who can’t or don’t make the time to help others, it’s really not a supportive and collaborative environment and teams are incredibly siloed - A complete lack of respect for work/life balance, there is very much an always on mentality and people get praised for working excessively long hours and for “hustling” - Leadership are obsessed with having a start-up culture which more often than not feels like an excuse for a lack of process, they often look for ways to bypass any process that does exist which disrupts regular work and results in lots of “hacky” projects and code going out - The company pretends to care about its staff but it feels like there is a lot of favouritism at play and being loyal to the company for many years gets you absolutely nothing in return, putting time, energy and effort into trying to make the company a better place to work goes unnoticed - It pretends to be an engineering-lead company, but it’s really not, the engineering team is grossly understaffed compared to other business units and it’s not uncommon for people to be hovering on the edge of burnout due to being spread so thinly - The company handles delivering bad news very poorly, there are ways to make people redundant that can be done in a sympathetic and empathetic way, but that was not the case at Finder

I’m saddened to hear this was your experience at Finder particularly as our ‘1 Crew’ value is all about teamwork and collaboration. Another one of our five values is to ‘Be Straight Up’ which is all about honesty and transparency. We try to live up to that value as much as possible. I know that it is particularly tough at the moment given we’re all working virtually. We’ve ramped up communications we have with everybody while we area ll working from home with our global ‘All Hands’ meetings and country-specific ‘huddles’ each week. Our regular 90-day presentations and my fortnightly ‘Ask Me Anything’ sessions are continuing. We also encourage everyone to jump on to Slack, Officevibe or email to give us direct feedback on how we can do better. Our crew are at the heart of every decision we make and the reason for our continued success. Thank you for your contribution to that success and I wish you all the best for the future.

Finder is a Total Joke

Pros

Unfortunately I can't think of anything positive.

Cons

What may work successfully in Australia is failing miserably in the United States. This is mostly due to internal chaos, failing strategy and a fundamental inability to understand the fintech market. The company pretends to help consumers make better financial choices, but really they're just a terrible content farm with nothing of value to add.

Hi, Thanks for leaving your feedback. I'm really sorry that you didn't have a positive experience during your time with Finder in the United States. I do sincerely hope that you go on to another great company where you can do your best work. We are still a very small team in the U.S. and we're growing fast, so I understand your frustrations. And you're right - we probably have some work to do in terms of refining our strategy and improving our understanding of the fintech market. That said, I am very proud of all of the amazing work that the crew at Finder have done and I hope we can continue to improve so we can help people make better decisions every day. At your service, Fred Schebesta
