Pros

Nice to be affiliated with such a positively perceived brand.

Cons

Getting big and losing that personal feel. Stuck with whatever Area Representative happens to be in your area regardless of incompetence. Inherent conflict of business interests between franchisee and franchisor with some decisions made without regard for negative impact on franchisee. Business model offers below average profitability prospects for franchisee. Unlikely to sell stores for more than it cost to construct. Well intentioned but moments of questionable morality.

Lies and drama

Pros

Interactions with customers and a small number of co-workers, getting experience to put on a resume

Cons

Owner and upper management will lie to you and promise promotions in order to attract you to take the job, or keep you there if you try to leave- and then never deliver on their promise. As a manager, the other employees will never respect you because the GM and other managers sabatoge you by talking badly about you behind your back, sometimes even on the first day a new employee is hired. GM is involved in a lot of the drama and bullying behavior that the teens and early 20s kids are starting and participates in talking badly about other employees behind their back. This place is like a high school, every body talks crap about everyone behind each others backs and when there is actual work to be done when the GM isn't there, employees just stand around and gossip. Owner involvement is non existent but he lies to get and keep talented managers on payroll then disappears. If you have an issue with the GM or her favorites forget about having any recourse because the owner will not be around to listen and even if he was around he wouldn't believe you and you might even get fired. This place is only good as a stepping stone, if you work here as a regular employee expect small raises (.25 first 6 months, .10 or .15 every 6 months after) but shift leaders don't get raises after being hired no matter how long you work here or what quality your work is. It's a dead end job, no room for advancement no matter what you are promised. GM has favorites and they get all the hours as far as regular employees are concerned, even if they don't work as good as other employees. The favorites usually stand around and boss the other employees around while pretending to work. Basically this is a high school students after school dream job.

Pros

-The hours are flexible. -The current general manager is really trying to turn the place around.

Cons

-Time off requests often denied so shift leaders can take off instead. -Pay is absolutely terrible for the amount of work expected of you. -Every employee cares too much or too little about the job. -My franchise owner was the cheapest person I've ever met, the medical cabinet had bandaids and that's it. -Management was immature and should never have been picked to be promoted. -On their fifth general manager in one year. -Training was bare minimum. I was trained to close line by being told what needed to be cleaned by the end of the night. Had no idea what to do. -Working there isn't like a team, it's like management vs employees. It's terrible.
